Serving as assistant tea-brewer aboard the Starship Expediter provided about as much excitement as Malloy wanted to handle. Unfortunately, the native plantmen of newly discovered planet Vegania have other ideas.

Fleeing explosive melons and skull-bursting coconuts, Malloy discovers a mysterious artefact he comes to know as The Object, and it’s the most effective stress ball he has ever encountered.

After a broadly successful mission, the Expediter crew visits planet Vintage, the galaxy’s wine-making capital, for some much-needed rest and relaxation. Malloy’s stress ball steals the media limelight, and his captain is not happy.

However, a furious captain is the least of his worries when the locals begin to… change.

As conditions on Vintage take an apocalyptic turn, Malloy needs all the help he can get to survive, even if that help comes in the form of a band of heavily armed thieves-for-hire and their rustbucket ship.
